To prepare for the visit of one of Mexico’s most beloved authors: Juan Villoro

Juan Villoro will be in San Miguel the weekend of November 12 to 15. He will present a lecture in English at the Literary Sala, and will visit rural communities where children and youth will have read his book. Libros Para Todos has distributed 500 books to youth in rural communities.

You are invited to join a bilingual and bicultural reading circle for Mexicans and foreigners to read Juan Villoro’s featured book:

El Libro Salvaje
El Libro Salvaje

There is no particular level of Spanish or English required. Beginners are welcome.

This is your chance to read and listen in Spanish, improve your vocabulary and have fun. This is a magical young adult book about reading, libraries and books. You will have a chance to read out loud and listen. It will not be a class to learn grammar but one for reading appreciation and practice with a marvelous book.

The class will be taught by Carmen Rioja, the Spanish Language Conference Director of the SMA Writers Conference. Carmen is the author of the short story book, La Muerte Niña (El Hechicero, Books). In addition, she is a friend of Juan Villoro and an expert on many of his books.
