Prose Café Goes Virtual
Join us on Zoom on September 3rd, when Prose Café premiers our free and live virtual event, which features an hour of reading from three beloved San Miguel extranjeros.
Nathan Feuerberg’s fiction has appeared in a variety of literary journals and anthologies. He will read his story, “Starstruck,” which is published in the anthology, Robbed of Sleep, Vol. 5. He currently is writing and producing two radio-drama podcasts: Flies In The Jar and Squad Car 22 at https://tinyurl.com/y2bsx48r. He received his MFA in Creative Writing from the University of New Orleans. Besides his writing, Nathan may be familiar to you as the patient face behind the desk at the San Miguel Writer’s Conference.
Judith Gille is an award-winning author who’s lived in San Miguel for many decades. Her work has appeared in noteworthy periodicals, including the New York Times, and in many online literary journals and anthologies. Her memoir, The View from Casa Chepitos: A Journey Beyond the Border, won the Writer’s Digest’s Grand Prize in 2013. She will read from her second book, Todavía México: Life Beyond the Border, released this year. Gille also is familiar to attendees of the San Miguel Writer’s Conference where she has taught for five years. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Bennington College and will join us from Lopez Island, northwest of Seattle, where she is currently living amid one hundred apple trees.
Frank Thoms spent forty years as a teacher, then more as a consultant and keynote speaker, and then became a successful writer. His fifth book, Behind the Red Veil: An American inside Gorbachev’s Russia, from which he will read, will be released for publication September 15. Tune in for a preview of his fascinating adventures in the Soviet Union. For the past nine years, he has lived with his wife, artist Kathleen Cammarata, in San Miguel. He has been on the faculty of the San Miguel Writers’ Conference and Literary Festival and has served as its Ambassador-at-Large.
Please join us and be inspired by their sharp, insightful, and humorous prose. We plan to start on time, so please arrive a few minutes early with your BYOB — cocktails or mocktails — ¿por qué no?
