Meet Juan Villoro
Villoro’s translated book of short stories, The Guilty, from George Braziller Inc, is a post-modern tackling of the contradictions of contemporary Mexico.Juan Villoro (Mexico in 1956) is well known in Mexico for his novel El Testigo, currently unavailable in English, in which he examines the period of transition undergone by Mexico after the 2000 election, when the PRI (Institutional Revolutionary Party) lost power.
Villoro writes regularly for Mexican periodicals, writing about sports, cinema, literature and travel. He has been Professor at the UNAM, and visiting Professor at Yale, Princeton and Pomeu Fabra University (Barcelona).
He has also translated works by Truman Capote, Graham Green, Goethe, Lichtenberg, and Rezzori. Villoro is a recipient of the International Journalism Award from King of Spain, Juan Carlos.
